CANTHAXANTHIN 80 CAP

Beta-Carotene Supplement

What Is Canthaxanthin?
In order to understand the function of Canthaxanthin, understanding of a group of carotenoids would be helpful. There are two major groups of carotenoids, Carotenes and Xanthophyll. Beta-carotene is the most common carotene and Canthaxanthin is a xanthophyll which is closely related. Carotenoids are bright colors, yellow, orange, and red that are found in nature.

Disclaimer:These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any disease.

Each capsule contains 300 mg of Canthaxanthin standardized at 10%.

Beta-Carotene Is The Yellow through orange colors such as the yellow in squash or the orange in carrots. Canthaxanthin is the orangish red and brownish red color, such as the red you see in the skin of apples, shrimp, crabs, and lobsters.

Carotenoids Are Biological Pigments that are the coloring of living organisms and the necessary molecules needed for important metabolic reactions. They are distributed everywhere in leaves, flowers, fruits, and roots of plants. Carotenoids are also found in many animals, especially in marine invertebrates. They tend to accumulate in brightly colored feathers of tropical birds. All carotenoids that are found in animals are ultimately derived from plants or algae. Carotenoids are potent antioxidant molecules that protect plants from damage caused by singlet and triplet oxygen, which is the by-product of ultraviolet rays and photosynthetic metabolism. They are free radical scavengers that prevent harmful uncontrolled oxidation chain reaction.

Carotenoids also protect plants from direct ultraviolet damage by absorbing high-energy ultraviolet photons then dissipating the energy along their hydrocarbon chains. Mutant plants that contain no carotenoids soon die due to ultraviolet induced damage to the chlorophyll. The carotenoid pigments color the beautiful array of orange, yellow, and red leaves in autumn. The green chlorophyll masks the different colors or carotenoids until various carotenoid colors are revealed. Likewise, in animals, carotenoids act as ultraviolet absorbers, antioxidants and free radical scavenger, protecting DNA from genetic damage.

Canthaxanthin Is A Naturally Occurring carotenoid found in many different plants and animals. It is the red coloring of many fruits, vegetables, and flowers. It gives the pink hue to the feathers of brightly colored birds such as flamingos. A few species of pink shellfish and some ocean crustaceans such as the red lobster also contain this xanthophyll, as does the pink flesh of salmon and the red spots on the skin of trout. Besides being a red pigment, Canthaxanthin functions as an ultravioletphoton absorber, a single and triplet oxygen quencher and free radical deactivator. A major cause of skin cancer is repeated sun burns to the skin. Damage to DNA due to ultraviolet radiation, excited forms of oxygen, and foe radicals can cause mutations that lead to carcinogenesis.

The use of Canthaxanthin may decrease one's chances of getting skin cancer by decreasing the necessary exposure time in the sunlight to acquire a tan, thus helping prevent sun damage to the skin.

The Simple Workings Of Canthaxanthin Is As Follows ... As Canthaxanthin assimilates into the body, the Canthaxanthin molecules attach to the subcutaneous layer of fat cells (insulin fat) that is directly under the skin. Since the skin is translucent, the fat that has been darkened by the Canthaxathin shows through.

The Daily Dosage Varies:

  • Under 100 lbs. - 4 capsules a day
  • 100-159 lbs. - 5 capsules a day
  • 160-200 lbs. - 6 capsules a day
  • Over 200 lbs. - 7 capsules a day

It Is Important To Know that the following information has been approximated. It cannot be said enough that everyone will not see the exact same results. The recommended guidelines are based on adult body weight. The capsules should be taken at the end of each meal throughout the day (during and after saturation period). The saturation period is approximately 4 wks., give or take 5 days. Saturation is achieved when the entire body has obtained an orange-bronze color easily detected in the face, hands, and feet. Coloring starts to appear 1 to 2 wks. before saturation is completed, which means you may not see any color for the first 2 wks. or so. Color should begin to appear at the hands, feet and face, then fill out over the rest of the body in about 2 wks. Once the saturation point has been achieved, cut the dosage in half. You can then regulate the coloring by taking more or less capsules on a daily basis.

Side Effects To Be Aware Of are that Canthaxanthin will turn the stool and some other body wastes a reddish color. This occurs when the body expels excessive amounts of Canthaxanthin that cannot be assimilated. Also, excessive amounts (more than can be absorbed by the body fat) will turn the palms of the hands and the bottoms of the feet an orange-bronze color, indicating that the dosage should be cut down on a gradient, only after saturation. The orange tint on the palms and feet will last through saturation and will gradually become less noticeable after the dosage is cut in half.

Important Notes!

  • Everyone may not attain saturation in 4 wks. because assimilation varies between individuals due to an overweight condition, diet, poor health skin thickness, etc. If saturation is not obtained by week 4, you may need to take 1-3 more capsules.

  • It takes about 3-4 wks. after saturation before the bronze coloring is achieved. The orange tint you notice at first will darken in time or with a small amount of sun exposure as the Canthaxanthin molecules equalize from red to brown. UV tanning booths greatly enhance the Canthaxanthin's darkening ability. Be advised that UV-B tanning booths should not be used.
  • If you are not willing to take Canthaxanthin for at least 8 wks. consistently, you will not know how well Canthaxanthin will work for you!
  • Once you have taken Canthaxanthin for a while and then stop taking it, the diminishing effects will be noticed in 4-5 days. Up to this point you may resume the dosage that you were taking, but take 1-2 capsules more as a booster for a week or two and then cut back to your normal daily dosage. If you go beyond the 5th day, you will need to repeat the saturation period again.

Additional Note ... We sell and advertise our Canthaxanthin as a natural carotenoid food color. This is the only approved use and only legal way we can sell it. To maintain legitimacy with the FDA, we CANNOT GUARANTEE our product as the so called "Tanning Pill". This is due to the fact that this product has nothing to do with the skin's normal tanning process from ultraviolet stimulation.
